Why Your Facebook Ads Aren’t Getting Approved

If you have ever created a Facebook ad campaign, then you have probably encountered at least one of your ads being rejected. Which probably leaves you wondering why your Facebook ads aren’t getting approved?

There are a few potential reasons that Facebook may have rejected your ads. The goal of this post is to give you a better understanding of why your ad was rejected and what you can do to fix it.

The Algorithm

The first thing to take note of is that when your ads go through the approval process, they aren’t being seen by an actual person. They are going through Facebook’s algorithm. And while the algorithm is highly advanced, it isn’t perfect. Sometimes, they may flag ads for no real reason.

It doesn’t necessarily mean anything is wrong with your ad campaign or that you have violated any of Facebook’s policies. I advise that you reread your ad, looking for anything that may have triggered the algorithm to reject it, and edit that.

However, if you don’t see anything that goes against Facebook policies, then there is an option to request a review for your ad.

When you request a review, it puts the ad back through the algorithm. So there is still a chance it will be flagged again. However, in my experience, it usually gets approved once it goes through again.

Facebook Policies

As mentioned above, you do want to check your ads prior to publishing them to be sure that they are complying with Facebook advertisement policies. For example, Facebook does not allow advertising for MLM opportunities, misleading claims, discrimination, etc.

Facebook also doesn’t want you to use negative language when speaking to your audience. Check the wording in your ad.

  • Does your ad sound accusing?

  • Is it written to guilt the audience into purchasing your product or services?

If so, then you need to change the wording.

Instead of focusing on the negative, focus on the positive!

  • How will they feel when they have purchased from you?

  • What will the outcome be?

You can find the full list of Facebook’s advertisement policies here.

Landing Page

You’ve checked your rejected ad and determined that it does follow Facebook’s policies. Therefore, you’ve requested a review, but it’s still being denied…so now what?

Another reason that your ad could be getting denied is because of where the ad is leading your audience. Facebook wants to make it a seamless process from ad to landing page.

I mentioned earlier that when you request a review on your Facebook ad, it pushes it back through the algorithm. However, this time the algorithm also reviews the landing page.

The algorithm is checking to see if the landing page matches the wording in the ad. It also checks to see:

  • If the landing page has been optimized for the user experience

  • Is it easy to read and understand?

  • Does the call to action (or CTA) match what was promised in the ad?

  • Is the landing page full of ads (this can be considered spam)

When creating your ad campaign, you must make sure that you are accounting for the customer’s journey from the ad to the landing page as well.

On the Table…

If you have tried all of the above and are still having issues getting your ads approved, you can use this link to request a call with a Facebook representative who can offer deeper insights into your specific ad account.
